A numberof different line spacings and character spacings can be used on office machines and data processing equipment. This variety causes difficulty amongst those concerned with 2.2 2Characterspacings the design and completion of forms. The preferred character spacing is 2,54 mm (1/10 in). This International Standard is intended to provide compatibility Where higher density writing is required, a character spacing of betweenforms and the machines used for their completion 2,117mm(1/12in)maybe usedandforspecial applications, usually where no carbon copies are required, a spacing of by giving guidance to machine manufacturers and forms 1,693 mm (1/15 in) may be used.
